Shenzhen is a city with the most number of ports and people who enter and exit and with the greatest volume of automobile flows in China. It is also an only city at the associate provincial level in China with air, land and ocean transportation facilities.
There are 17 ports of different kinds built to access to foreign countries, including Luohu Port, the largest land passenger transportation port in China, Huanggang Port, the largest land cargo transportation port in China, Shenzhen Port, the second largest container transportation port in China, and Bao’an International Airport air transportation port, the fourth largest airport in China. In addition, there are 5 land transportation ports such as Futian Port and Shatoujiao Port, and 7 seaports like Shekou, Mawan, Chiwan, Dongtoujiao, Meisha, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station Specialized Terminal.
Passengers to and from Hong Kong may pass the following important ports:
Luohu Port: located to the south of Shenzhen Railway Station, adjacent to New Territory of Hong Kong by only a river. Shenzhen is connected to Hong Kong by a double-layer pedestrian bridge and a railway bridge.
Futian Port: located to the east of Futian Bonded Zone, adjacent to Lok Ma Chau Terminal of Hong Kong’s Kowloon Railway. The passengers for entry and exit mainly take Shenzhen Metro Line 4 and Hong Kong Light Rail Oriental Branch. Since 15 August 2007, it has been put into formal operation.
Shenzhen Bay Port: As Asia’s largest comprehensive highway port for passenger and cargo transportation, it is located at Dongjiaotou, Shekou of Shenzhen neighboring Ngau Hom Shek of Hong Kong. Since 1 July 2007, it has been put into formal operation.
Huanggang Port: located at the south end of Futian District of Shenzhen facing Lok Ma Chau of Hong Kong by a river, and to the south of the port Huanggang-Lok Ma Chau Bridge across Shenzhen River connects Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
