Shopping in Shenzhen has become somewhat of a local phenomenon in Hong Kong, with hordes of locals piling across the border at weekends to stock up on everything from apples and oranges to imitation Gucci bags. Why? Shenzhen is a bargain. And, if you thought Hong Kong shopping was cheap, Shenzhen will really bring a smile to your wallet. Below, you’ll find the best locations for shopping Shenzhen.

Where to Shop in Shenzhen For… Everything

Sat on the Hong Kong/Shenzhen border, and right next to the main border crossing, Luohu Commerical City is where most day trippers from Hong Kong end up. Featuring over 700 shops over 5 floors, Commercial City is likely to be the most intense shopping experience you’ve ever experienced, with hundreds of salesmen and hustlers all jostling for your attention. Just about everything you could ever want to buy is on sale here, although it’s worth noting that a good majority of it is either imitation or counterfeit, but then you get what you pay for, and prices are cheap. The best buys here are clothing, tailors and probably the biggest draw, cut price massages. You should be on alert for pickpockets and con artists, as the mall is a magnet for both. Hi, how do i go from 油麻地 to 深圳 and to all those shopping center listed?

    [Reply]

  • Andrew

    Hi All

I would strongly recommend against visiting Louhu commercial city.
It is quite overpriced – only an attraction for tourists. If you are in Shenzhen for more than about 4 hours I would recommend venturing further into SZ than this shopping mall. I have lived here for a few months and whenever I go there it takes long painful amounts of bargaining to get a price comparable to other places.
I recommend Dong Men – which is very close, or Hua qiang bei.
I noticed Kyle has a nice sales pitch for his shop posted here but I recommend you step past the border to see really how cheap REAL shenzhen is.

You can buy fur coat at any bazaar in Shenzhen where clothing are available. If you want to good bags and clothing with brand names, I suggest the MixC Mall in Luohu, where you can see many world brands, such as Gucci, LV etc.
Shenzhen LuoHu Commercial City is a place where many fake products of world brands are available.
Dongmen Shopping Area (Dongmen Pedestrian Street) is a hodgepodge where you can buy various kinds of clothing and bags, but nearly all fake ones. If this is the first time for you to go, you’d better find a guide, otherwise you might lost in the crowd and be asked for high price.

If you want to buy good bags with brand names, I suggest you go to Hong Kong where the products like LV,Channel,Gucci are much cheaper than those in Shenzhen.

Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any problem.and please read the details in the article for more information about shenzhen shopping

    Wish you good luck.
