I am trying all my efforts to look for the stadium. I have made many phone calls to relevant authorities including Shenzhen Municipal Government, Shenzhen Stadium, and Shenzhen Municipal Sports Administration, but not a proper place has been found. Anyway, I will still try to find a place which provides the stadium for the match.

1st national junior cricket team practices in Nanshan school
2006-11-02
| CHINA’S first national junior cricket team, which is based in Tongle School in Nanshan District, is presently busy preparing for the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) U-15 Cup 2006 to be held in Thailand next month.
The junior cricket team is composed of 17 Tongle students and three students from Zhichunli Middle School in Beijing, aged between 14 and 15. The team was founded in Tongle School in September. It is the first junior cricket team in China and Tongle School may become a national cricket training base, said Jiang Zhenyuan, director of the project development committee of China Cricket Association (CCA), which is based in Beijing. Jiang said the CCA chose the Tongle School cricket team as the national cricket team because Shenzhen has pleasant climate for training all year round and the school’s baseball team is in a leading position in China. The cricket team is currently undergoing training. Four foreign coaches, Rumesh Ratnayake from Sri Lanka, who is also an ACC development officer, Rashid Khan from Pakistan, Ross Turner and Lin Yuzhou from Australia are supervising the training. They are being assisted by four assistant coaches from China, two locals and two from Beijing and Shanghai. The team will play against nine other national teams from Dec. 4 to 23 in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. “It is the first time a Chinese cricket team will participate in an international cricket game, so we attach great importance to it. The junior players are making marvelous progress as they all have experience in playing baseball,” said Jiang. Cricket originated in England several centuries ago, and is popular within countries formerly part of the British Commonwealth. The bat-and-ball sport is now played in about 97 countries. CCA, founded in 2004, has been promoting cricket in China since last year. |
