Shenzhen middle school students object to the “cell phone limitation order”

Recently, some students of a middle school in Baoan district in Shenzhen complain to the journalist that since this semester, the school does not allow students to use cell phone in schoolyard and many students’ cell phones have been seized. The school side said all those phones will be returned after graduation. Journalist finds there are also many students of this school consulting legal rights maintenance issues on a domestic legal information website.

The school president in charge of moral education, Mr. Ping said the school has propagandized the harm of mobile phone to students since last summer holiday and carried out several discussions with parents. Some parents used to propose that the signal within the teaching regions should be screened. The school communicated with Telecom Company about this matter, which was not successful due to the violation of relevant regulations.

99% parents agree with the “cell phone limitation order”

When the order put forward in last December, the school used to send a notification to the parents delivering the school’s regulations on mobile phone limitation and ask the parents to supervise the students together with the school. 99% of parents supported this decision and signed the Letter of Content.

Students think this is unreasonable.
On a domestic legal advice website, students of this school post their objection and ask help and one of the lawyers on this website answered that it’s unreasonable for the school to do this.

President Ping said the school has the right to constitute some rules for students’ conduction. The students who will post on the website as soon as they are not satisfied don’t comprehend or even misunderstand the school’s real intention.

He said the school does not limit the students to use mobile phones. The students can take phones in schoolyard but absolutely forbidden to use in teaching regions. The mobilephones used in the teaching regions or during the classes will be seized and kept by the school and parents can get back the mobile phone at the weekend.
