Shenzhen ranks top for patents of invention

According to relevant authorities of Municipal Intellectual Property Bureau, during the first quarter this year, Shenzhen’s patent applications continue to increase and the whole city’s authorization volume of patents of invention is 1445 units, increasing by 52.1% over the same period last year and ranking first in China. The whole city’s work regarding to strengthening the break of “zero” on medium and small enterprises’ science and technology patents is also stably moving forward.

Intellectual property now has become a key link for promoting Shenzhen’s independent innovation and enhancing the core competency of the city. Chief of the Municipal Intellectual Property Bureau, Xu Youjun said yesterday, through the active enlisting of State General Administration of Press and Publication and State Copyright Bureau, the copyright work station of the State Copyright Bureau is expected to list in Shenzhen within this year.

On the invention of intellectual property, Shenzhen patent applications in these years have ranked top in China. The patent application volume of last year reached 36,000 units, of which 18757 are invention patents applications, running the second in the whole nation and the PCT international patent application volume is nearly accounting half of the whole nation, continuing ranking first in China. During the first quarter of this year, Shenzhen patent applications continue to maintain a good developing status under the conditions of growth speed of economy declining and many enterprises’ application decreasing.

Xu discloses, under the strategy of greatly promoting intellectual property, the Bureau, regarding to the condition that there are still 80% enterprises of the 3000 high technology enterprises confirmed in our city has no patent, decides to carry out classified instruction for those corporations.
