Introduction:

If you don’t set eyes on, it’s hard to imagine that such a corner museum, which is the only theme museum of celadon in the world, collects over 2000 celadon and 2400 specimens of ceramic chips of the dynasties of Shang and Zhou until Yuan, Ming and Qing, and it used to be chosen as one of the “Ten Top Folk Museums in China”. It’s reported that the proto-porcelains collected here are even rarely seen in the Imperial Palace.

The Curator of the Xibaolou Museum of Celadon, Wu Keshun who used to be an entrepreneur has been collecting celadon for more than 20 years and has invested 80 million Yuan. Since opened in 1998, Xibaolou has been awarded with honor of “Shenzhen Advanced Unit for Museum Construction”, “Distinguished Private None business Unit”, “Ten Top Folk Museums in China” etc.

Identified by the relic experts of State Culture Relic Bureau and Beijing Palace Museum, Xibaolou’s scale, quality, visual value, historical value and artistic value all rank first class. The proto-celadon of the dynasties of Xizhou to Xihan also rank top among the museums and art galleries all around the world, and the Big Mouth Zun of Xizhou period, three-legged tripot with animal head of the warring states period etc. are all treasures and the sheep-shape lamp of the three kingdoms period and “Wuyouxin” Chick-head pot of Dongjin period are rarely seen in the nation.

On the third floor of Xibaolou, Wu Keshun chose one third of the collections for exhibition displaying according to the different development stages of the celadon. The first period is the early stage of the celadon, including impressed pottery and proto-celadon of the period from Shang and Zhou to Qin and Han dynasties. The second period is celadon development period during which Yue Kiln of the periods of Warring States to North and South dynasties of China is a representative. The third period is the flourishing stage of celadon. On the show, there is chick-head pot of Sui Dynasty, secret color ware of late Tang Dynasty, Yue Kiln engraving celadon of the five dynasties and porcelain of the Guan Yao Kiln, Dragon Spring Kiln Jun Yao Kiln etc of Song Dynasty. The fourth period is the declining period of the celadon, during which Dragon Spring Kiln is a fine representative.

This exhibition shows the development history and artistic fruits of the celadon in China and the decoration of each showing district has been designed according to the celadon pattern of its existing age. The celadon museum also has specimen room, painting and calligraphy room, tea room, relic shops and other facilities.
