Shenzhen aligns with Sichuan for aviation pivot construction

Chengdu Municipal Government and Shenzhen Airlines Co., Ltd signed formal Strategic Cooperative Framework Agreement for Promoting the Development of Chengdu Operation Base of Shenzhen Airlines in Chengdu on May 31, 2008. Experts comment that this is another important measure of Chengdu for promoting the aviation pivot construction following the Strategic Cooperative Framework Agreement for Chengdu Aviation Pivot Construction signed among Chengdu Municipal Government, Airport Group and Air China.

Data shows that Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is the largest aviation pivot and distribution center for passengers and freight in the west and the extension of the second runway and the new terminal project of the airport provides good basic conditions for expanding airspace resource and attracting more air companies to join in. Chengdu has paid high attention to the development of air transportation enterprises and has quickened the infrastructure construction of the airport, strived for opening more international airlines and introduced actively capable air companies, which has been taken as important measures for promoting the airport pivot construction.

Li Chuncheng, Member of Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of Party Committee, Ge Honglin, Mayor of Chengdu, Liu Pu, Vice Mayor of Chengdu, Duan Chengzhu, Assistant Secretary-General of Chengdu Municipal Government, Li Zeyuan, Senior Consultant of Shenzhen Airlines Co., Ltd, Xu Haiwei, Chairman of Board of Supervisor of Shenzhen Airlines, Liu Jianping, Executive Vice President of Shenzhen Airlines, He Changqing, Vice President of Shenzhen Airlines and Xu Zhimin, Operating and Marketing Director of Shenzhen Airlines attended the signing ceremony. Huang Xiaoxiang, Vive-governor of Sichuan Province, Li Jiaguo, Assistant Secretary-General of Provincial Government and relevant principals of the departments of Aviation, Custom etc. of provincial and municipal levels directly under the Central authority were also invited to the ceremony.

According to the introduction of experts, the Strategic Cooperative Framework Agreement for Promoting the Development of Chengdu Operation Base of Shenzhen Airlines signed by Chengdu and Shenzhen Airlines is another substantive measure of Chengdu to seek actively for cooperation with air companies and airport, and to quicken the construction of aviation pivot, which will be helpful for Shenzhen Airlines to invest more airline capacity in Chengdu and open more international and national passenger and freight airlines and will facilitate the development of aviation transportation and form of the international passenger and freight transportation junction. At the same time, Shenzhen Airlines is the fifth largest air company that possesses complete international and national airline network. Chengdu Municipal Government and Shenzhen Airlines hope that, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport can be cultivated, through the close cooperation, as passenger and freight transportation junction of Shenzhen Airlines in the southwest areas for promoting the quick development of Shenzhen Airlines Sichuan Branch and the construction of Chengdu aviation pivot.
