10 university volunteers in Shenzhen set out for Gansu

It’s reported that 10 Shenzhen university volunteers set out for Longnan and other places in Gansu on July 16 to carry out volunteer service work for a term of one year.

It’s reported that those were the second batch of volunteers of the Special Action of Disaster Relief in the Plan of Western Service of University Volunteers. In 2008, the Plan of Western Service of University Volunteers carried out the Special Action of Disaster Relief and recruited volunteers to go to the disaster areas for carrying out the volunteer work of disaster relief with a term of one year. The Commission of Communist Youth League of Shenzhen and Shenzhen University chose 10 volunteers in July last year to Gansu and now had successfully accomplished their task and came to Shenzhen.

According to the introduction, since the Plan of Western Service of University Volunteers started in 2003, Shenzhen together had had 90 volunteers from different universities joining in this western plan and going to Guangxi, Guangdong, Gansu, and Sichuan etc. for carrying out the volunteer work for a term of one year.

Relevant principal said the volunteers represented Shenzhen’s caring spirits and Shenzhen’s urban tapestry and would contribute to the local reconstruction after the disaster.
