104 stranded climbers rescued in Shenzhen
Pingshan Subdistrict Office in Longgang District Shenzhen was informed on June 28 at 22:00 that a spontaneously-formed group of climbers named “wind runners” were lost during their climbing and 104 team members were stranded on the border between Huiyang Lovers’ Valley and Pingshan Moutain in Longgang district. After got the information, Pingshan Subdistrict Office immediately started up a contingency plan and organized 230 personnel to rush to the mountain for rescue work. After nearly 4 hours’ search and rescue, the 104 climbers were successfully saved, no people injured.
The outdoor climbers group “wind runners” was earlier formed spontaneously by some climbing amateurs by posting forum through internet. On June 28th at 8:00am, the 104 climbing group members, led by an employee of a shenzhen transportation company, rented two buses and headed for the Shitouhe Reservoir for climbing from Shenzhen Gymnasium. At about 21:00pm, the 104 members were lost and stranded in the Lovers’ Valley due the darkness.
At 00:25am, the searching team found most of the climbing members and organized additional rescue workers to the mountain when knowing that there were also some climbing members stranded. Food and waters had been ready for those climbers after they were rescued.
