China’s first “Battery Alliance” in Shenzhen

The Provincial Industry-University-Research Institute Innovative Alliance for Advanced Batteries and Materials, jointly initiated and organized by 8 universities including Tsinghua University and 18 enterprises in Guangdong, was formally established in Shenzhen on Jun 23rd, which is the first industry-university-research institute alliance established facing the industry of battery. This Alliance planned to overcome the key technology, core technology and general technology difficulties in relevant fields within three to five years and form a batch of industrial chains of batteries with independent intellectual property rights to provide crucial new materials and application technologies for the development of relevant fields in Guangdong Province, promoting the industrial development and developing a proprietary brand with international competitiveness.

To enhance the capacity of independent innovation and international competitiveness of the products of Guangdong advanced battery and crucial materials industry on an all-round base and form a better industrial chain and clustering, the 7 higher education institutions including Tsinghua University that have powerful research strength in the fields of advanced batteries and materials, as well as several industrial leaders of Guangdong advanced batteries and materials industrial clustering jointly initiated and organized this alliance.
