The financial crisis not only impacted the economy, but also affected the public security situation in Shenzhen. Shenzhen Public Security Bureau mentioned at the news conference for announcing the public security situation in the first half year on Monday that Shenzhen’s criminal case after March rose, of which major crimes such as burglary, kidnapping etc took a lead. In the first quarter, Shenzhen’s kidnapping cases rose to 44.

A new type of crime: pulling people into the car and robbing

At the beginning of the year, several experts express their worries about the effect that may be brought by the financial crisis to Shenzhen. Deputy Party Secretary, Deputy Chief of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau, Shen Shaobao put forward when introducing the public security situation of Shenzhen in the first half year that, after coming to April, the major crime came into a high-incidence season. Taking the kidnapping cases for example, 52 cases occurred in the first 20 days in April and the rate obviously came up. However, when the driving robbery gradually dropped away after the motorcycle forbidden, a new type of crime, pulling people into the car and robbing, came into a high-incidence season. Within only two weeks in April, Shenzhen had occurred 52 cases of pulling crime, which had caused serious impact to the society.

Financial crisis push some unemployed to commit crimes

Shen Shaobao said, Police found after analyzing the public security situation of the first half year that the subject of crime had obviously changed and unemployed and laid-off persons became the main increment factors to crime. Among the 9374 persons under criminal detention, 2475 were unemployed or laid-off persons, occupying 26.21% of the newly increased number while the proportion in last year was 5%.

Clamp down on the protective umbrella

Shen Shaobao said Shenzhen Police would continue to focus on the work of prevention and control and strengthen the efforts on road control and information researching and judging, preventing and decreasing the occurrence of the cases to their limit of ability.
