How to get to Huaqiang Bei Commercial Area, Shenzhen?

We are day tripping to Shenzhen in a few days and wanted to know the best way to get to Huaqiang Bei Commercial Area for all of the electronics stores. We are coming from HK and know how to get into Luohu. What is the easiest way to get to where we want to go once we’re at Luohu? And does the octopus card for the MTR’s in HK work in Shenzhen too? Thanks!!!!

The easiest way is to take the Metro from Luohu (罗湖) Huaqiangbei (华强北) Station. Exit the station from Exit A and head north after exiting the station and walk straight and the electronic malls are on the road. 5 stations after Luohu and cost you RMB3 per person per trip. For using Octopus card, sorry Shenzhen uses Shenzhen Tong, which is different from Octopus card and you have to purchase token for the ride from the token machine. If you do not have small change, change at the service counter near control station at Luohu to exchange notes up to RMB100 for small change, as the machine only accept RMB1, 2 and 5 domination notes, if I do not remember wrongly.

Just came back from Shenzhen and Hong Kong last month and went from Luohu to Lao Jie and Huaqiang Bei Area before.
