Liu Yupu and Wang Rong lead the Universiade in Shenzhen
After the Universide came into “Shenzhen’s time”, the preparation work had been comprehensively sped up. To strengthen the organization of the Universiade, the Party Committee and the Municipal Government recently set up a leading group for leading the preparation work of the Universiade, jointly led by Liu Yupu, Deputy Secretary of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of Party Secretary and Wang Rong, Acting Mayor of Shenzhen.
On the afternoon of August 6, Liu and Wang convened and hosted the first session of the leading group, emphasizing effective implementation of the strategy of “running competitions, running the city”, which is to, taking the opportunity of the Universiade, promote the changing of the city into a brand new image. By now, the preparation work of competitions organization, venue construction and market development etc. have been regularly pushed forward. As for the venue construction, the 22 new venues have all been started and 7 projects have been finished with the major construction. Liang Daoxing said the venue, smoothly constructed, would be surely completed by the end of 2010.
Liu and Wang gave full confirmation to the preparation of the Universiade. The conference stressed the Universiade next would continue to implement the strategy of “running competitions, running the city”, through the organization of the Universiade, fully promoting the city construction of Shenzhen, optimizing the urban management level and environment and improving the overall quality of citizens and the city’s civilization.
The 26th Universiade was scheduled to be open on August 12, 2011. It’ reported that, to celebrate the important moment of the count down of two years’ anniversary away from the Universiade, Shenzhen would held an entertainment show on the evening of August 12, 2009.
