Shenzhen to demonstrate 24000 new energy vehicles

From 2009 to 2012, Shenzhen will demonstrate and popularize totally 24000 new energy vehicles of each type, taking a lead in completing the construction of the leading city of new energy vehicles demonstration and popularization and the new energy vehicle industrial base. Yesterday, the State Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the State Development and Reform Commission and the State Ministry of Industry and Information confirmed Shenzhen as one of the thirteen experimental cities for new energy vehicle demonstration and popularization. In July, Shenzhen Municipal Government approved the Demonstration and Popularization Implementation Plan (2009-2012) for Shenzhen’s Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicles and submitted to the four ministries and commissions for further approval.

The expert group yesterday investigated the new energy vehicle research and development corporations and power recharging places and heard the report about the implementation plan. The expert group said the task object of Shenzhen’s experimental point was clear. Integrating the Automobile Industries’ Adjustment and Boosting Plan and Shenzhen’s Overall Plan for the Urban Development, BY 2012, Shenzhen would have demonstrated and popularized accumulatively 24000 new energy vehicles in the three major fields of public buses (including taxies), business vehicles and private cars.

According to the calculation, compared with the traditional fuel-powered vehicles, the emission amount of carbon dioxide will be reduced by 155000 tons after the 24000 new energy vehicles being put into use.
