10% young people in Shenzhen deficient in calcium
Yesterday was World Osteoporosis Day. Learning from the primary osteoporosis study course held by Shenzhen No.2 People’s Hospital, 10% of Shenzhen’s young people are deficient in calcium, through bone density inspection.
According to the introduction, China has a high incidence of the primary osteoporosis. One of two females above the age of 50 could be attacked and one of eight males could be attacked, which is relatively low. Shenzhen is a coastal city with developed economy and the intake of nutrition and seafood should be higher than that in none-coastal cities. However, 10% young people have the phenomenon of deficient in calcium.
According to the introduction of the Director of the Endocrinology Department of the Municipal No. 2 People’s Hospital, Liang Zhen said calcium deficiency’s main clinical symptom included ache, fracture, crookback and softening. The appearance of these symptoms indicates that it needs symptomatic treatment to delay the losing of bone mass and avoid bone fracture. He also warned the citizens that bone density inspection should be periodically done for detection of osteoporosis symptom and for carrying out of symptomatic treatment. As to calcium supplement, he advised the citizens to eat more soybean and milk good.
