5th Plenary Session of the Executive Committee of the Universiade concluded

The 5th Plenary Session held by the Executive Committee of the 26th Summer Universiade on October 10 discussed and approved the adjusted list of the Executive Committee of the Universiade. The Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen, Wang Rong was appointed as the Chairman of the Executive Committee. Wang Rong later presided over the meeting and debriefed the latest development of the preparation work, and also discussed a series of work plan for the Universiade.

Since the Universiade came into “Shenzhen Time”, each prepration work has gone into a new stage of all-round mobilization, full promotion and thoroughly acceleration. To strengthen the leadership for the preparation work of the Universiade, the Municipal Committee of CPC and the Municipal Government specially established a leading group for the Universiade’s preparation work, led by Liu Yupu and Wang Rong. The preparation work currently has transferred to the key stage with each event organization more professional and more specific. The work plans discussed on the meeting yesterday involved the work of program and design for the functional district of the athletes’ village of the Universiade, venue team building up, health and medicine, communication and information system as well as security.

Wang Rong pointed out that, in the following preparations, five works should be attached with great importance and attentions:

First, raising the international image of the city of Shenzhen by virtue of holding the Universiade, accelerating the internationalization process and promoting the urban management level. Second, fully mobilizing the passion and enthusiasm of the youth regarding the university students as its main body and enhancing the youth’s cohesion and sense of responsibility as well as their social work ability through pushing them to participate in the organization and preparation for the events. Third, highlighting the concept of “improving the city through the organization of the event” and, through the holding of the events, promoting the development of the city, raising the overall quality of the citizens, boosting the radiometric force, competence and international influence, attracting more attentions of the world for Shenzhen and making the short events bring favorable effect for the construction and development of the city on a long-term and all-round base. Fourth, properly handling the relation between economical organizing of the events and striving for the top level. Fifth, insisting on the three standards of reform and innovation, solid work and professional operation for innovating and consummating the mechanism and system, bravely introducing professional team, and holding an international event that could fully present Shenzhen’s modern and international city pattern.
