Frequent accidents on sites of Shenzhen Metro

According to the report on October 26, on the construction site of Wuhe Station of Shenzhen Metro No.5 Line, the mechanical arm of a crane was broken off during the operation. Fortunately, nobody was injured or dead. However, about eight hours after this incident, a worker was killed in an explosion during the construction work on Metro No.5 Line in Buji Subdistrict, Longgang district.

The accident happened at 9 p.m. when workers were trying to blast through rock in a tunnel for No.5 Line. But the explosives failed to detonate, a witness surnamed Zhao told the Shenzhen Daily.

The worker surnamed Xie approached to check the cause of the failure when the blast occurred. Xie was killed instantly and part of the tunnel collapsed, Longgang police confirmed yesterday.

By now, several safety accidents have happened on the construction site of Shenzhen Metro with death toll of 13 persons.

Relevant person of the Headquarters of Shenzhen Track Traffic Construction disclosed in late July this year that, during the 18 days from July 6 to July 24, the construction sites of Shenzhen Metro had successively happened four casualty accidents, five persons died.
