Hong Kong Jockey Club Won “Affecting China” Charity Award

Reporter was informed from the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) that it was just announced the HKJC was honored with the “Charity Enterprise” and the “Classic Landmark Building” in the “Affecting China” selection activities.

As an important non-government charity commonweal-funded organization, the HKJC makes an annual donation of more than one billion HK dollars, subsidizing more than 100 local charitable and social projects. Horse Racing Sports has a history of more than 100 years in Hong Kong. The HK Happy Valley Racecourse and the Sha Tin Racecourse are the worldly recognized racecourses with first-rated facilities. In 2008, the Hong Kong Jockey Club spent 1.2 billion HK dollars to construct the Olympic equestrian venues and advanced facilities. It was awarded with the honor “Important Contribution Institution of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Equestrian Events” by Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee.

The “Affecting China” large-scale selection activity was initiated by the Hong Kong Wen Hui Daily, and was co-sponsored by the Hong Kong Press and the Business Sector. It was organized to praise the enterprises, landmark buildings and cities which made important achievements in the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
