Shenzhen Tanglang Mountain Country Park

Tanglang Mountain Country Park is located in the north-east of Nanshan District. Its south is Pingnan Railway and north is Beihuan Belt Thoroughfare and Longzhu Avenue. West to the Honghualing Hill, it stretches east into the territory of Futian District. From North, you can overlook Xili Reservoir, Changling Skin Reservoir, Yangtai Mountain, and Shenzhen Wild Animal Park. From south, you can have a bird’s-eye view of Shenzhen Bay and Overseas Chinese Town (OCT). The total area of Tanglang Mountain Country Park is about 15,000 acres, whose main peak is 430.8 meters above sea level, which is higher than that of the big Nanshan (336 meters), and lower than the average elevation (780 meters) of the three main peaks in Wutong Mountain. Tanglang Mountain Country Park is a natural landscape which is famous for the natural scenery of mountain and fountain, animal and plant, as well as natural ecological environment, which allow visitors to enjoy and protect nature as they ascend the mountain in their leisure time. There are an increasing number of visitors, or sporadic, or organize groups to go hiking here together and to enjoy the scenery. Tanglang Mountain has become one of the best places for leisure, fitness, and scenery viewing.

People who drive to Tanglang Mountain Country Park can take Beihuan Belt Thoroughfare (from east to west), pass Antuo Mountain, and then take Longzhu Avenue. After arrive at a traffic light in front of a building named “Imperial Court Shangri,” turn right and go straight to the destination. Cars can be parked by the road, and you can walk to the mountain. People who take bus can choose any buses that pass by Taoyuan Village Station. After reach there, you should go north along the 6th Longzhu Avenue, and then you can find the Longzhu Gate to Tanglang Mountain Country Park.

There are two ways ascending to the Mountain: the winding mountain road and mountain trail. In the middle of the road, there are two intersection points, where you can change your route. Country Park’s winding mountain road is the gateway to the main peak of Tanglang Mountain, which is flat, wide and winding. Along the way, you can enjoy the bird’s singing, fragrant flowers and fresh air. Your sight of perspective becomes wider and wider as you walk forward. After walking about 4.25 kilometers, you will reach the top of the Mountain. Most of young people would like to choose the mountain trail. There are several trails to the peak. Some is covered with weeds or tree roots, others are deep winding path. Taking the trails, you will get to the peak very quickly. There is no much scenery along the way, but accompanied by the bird’s singing, you can soon reach the top and view the whole mountain.

In the hillside, you can view the junction river between Shenzhen and Hong Kong as well as the panorama of Nanshan District and Futian District. You can also see the “wide flat” terrain of Shenzhen. Climbing on the mountain peak, you can overlook the landscape which the mountains, the city, the sea blend together in the SAR. If you ascend to the peak at night, what presents in front of you is Shenzhen’s night spectacular: light sea with flickering light and shadow. Viewing the interweaving of Longzhu Avenue, Beihuan Belt Thoroughfare, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Highway, Shennan Avenue, Binhai Avenue, West Shahe Road, you can catch sight of the prosperity of Nanshan District and Futian District. At the Peak, a stone writes, “Illness is far away from the mountaineering.” For this reason, no wonder that many residents living in the foot of the mountains have cultivated the habit of climbing mountain every day.

Overlooking at the Tanglang Peak, you can see the rolling mountains such as Wutong Mountain and Jigong Mountain in the east. Both the far sight of blue sea and near sight of Luohu District, Futian District and Nanshan District come into your eyes. You can also view the Pearl River Estuary waters, the size shovel Island, Xin’an, Xixiang, Fuyong, Bao’an Airport, Yangtai Mountain, Xili Reservoir, Tiegang reservoirs, etc. in the northwest.

Tanglang Mountain, with high mountains and deep valley, flourished forest and plenty water, is rich in biological resources. There are some rare plants found in the Mountain: the first class endangered species under state protection – Alsophila spinulosa; the first class national protected plant – C.fairylakea; the third class endangered species under state protection – stick wood; the second class endangered species under state protection – Aquilaria sinensis; the second class national protected plant – golden retriever dogs.

Tanglang Mountain, with its quiet, deep and majestic qualities of the ecological garden, attracts many people who love climbing, nature and life to come.
