16 metro lines proposed to be built in Shenzhen

The 12th Annual Meeting of International Underground Space Joint Research Centre was held in Shenzhen and experts from all over the world exchanged their opinions and discussed about “building Underground Space to Beautify the City”.

The construction of Shenzhen metro lines is now proceeding well. It is said Shenzhen now plans to build 16 metro lines, with a total length of 585.7 kilometers and 359 stations. Right now, the second stage of the metro line construction project is going on smoothly, whilst the third stage of the metro line project will involve 7 metro lines reaching from Metro Line 6 to Metro Line 12. Facing the construction climax of Shenzhen metro, how to take the chance of the metro construction to make good use of the underground space is the common concern of the conventioneers. It’s said that relevant institute has preliminarily designed 50,220 square meters of underground space, meanwhile 3,200 square meters of which has already been put into use.

Moreover, a total area of 3.5 million square meters real estate on the ground would be built at stations such as Qianhai Stop, Shekouxi Stop, Songgang Stop, Longhua Stop and Tanglang Stop, among which 1.16 million square meters would be for welfare housing.

At the Meeting, experts and scholars have a deep discussion on the issues like development prospect of underground space exploitation, layout of underground buildings and underground space, underground space exploitation and underground traffic, together with developing opportunities of underground space in Shenzhen.
