Container marine line opened between Shenzhen and Zhuhai

The first special line for container transportation between Jiuzhou Port in Zhuhai and Yantian Port in Shenzhen has been formally put into operation on November 2. The import and export corporations in Gongbeiguan district can make clearance of the export goods directly at Jiuzhou Port henceforth.

This container transportation line is jointly opened by Shenzhen Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) and Zhuhai International Container Terminals (Jiuzhou) Limited, owned by Zhuhai Port Holdings and carried by Zhuhai New Hongan Logistics Co., LTD, a member of Golden Fame Logistics Holding Limited.

Insider said, using barges for customs transferring has more cost advantages than using container trailers, because we don’t need to worry about the shortage of trailers during the midseason and also don’t need to worry the troubles caused by bad traffic. We only need to make one custom clearance at the exits of Jiuzhou Port, which greatly increase the passing speed and save the expense of custom clearance.

It’s said that in the first half year of 2009, the goods of each import and export corporations in Zhuhai exported through Yantian Port have reached over 60,000 standard containers, accounting for 20% of the total volume of the import and export goods. The opening of the special water transportation line between Yantian Port and Jiuzhou Port will not only benefit the win-win of the two ports, but also help the import and export corporations in Zhaihai reduce logistic cost and enhance the ability of resisting risk during the financial crisis.
