Rules and Regulations for Hong Kong visas

  1. Download the visa application from the Chinese Embassy website and complete the visa form. Be sure to check off Business (F) Visa.
  2. Attach one passport photo to the application.
  3. Make a copy of your hotel and flight information.
  4. Obtain an invitation letter from an authorized Chinese business.
  5. Deliver all materials to the Chinese Consulate nearest you. No appointments are necessary. Provide a self-addressed, prepaid envelope to have documents returned to you via mail.Can’t make it to the Consulate?
    You can pay an authorized agent to complete this step for you, or ask a travel agent for assistance.
  6. Wait for your passport and new visa.
  7. Have a safe trip!
Tips:
  1. Same day and rush service are available for extra fees.
  2. You do not need a visa for trips to Hong Kong under 30 days. If you are traveling to Hong Kong prior to China, it is possible to apply for your visa there. Ask the hotel concierge for assistance.
  3. If you are traveling back and forth between China and Hong Kong, be sure to select the “double entry” option on the application.

From September 23, 2008, China Visa policy has the following adjustments:

A. Multi-entries Visa

(I) Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card holders can apply for multi-entries Visa, which valid for 1 to 3 years. Requirements:

  1. Passport with at least one old China Visa is required.
  2. Original and copy of Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card are required.
  3. When applying the “F” visa for business and visit, a business card of the applicant is required.

(II)Non-Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card holders can apply for multi-entries Visa, which valid for 6 months. Requirements:

  1. A copy of Hong Kong Identity Card is required.
  2. When applying the “F” visa for business and visit which valid for six months, passport with at least one old China Visa and a business card of the applicant are required.

(III) Domestic helper in Hong Kong can try to apply a multi-entries visa for tourism which valid for six months, and can stay for no more than 15-day each time. The duration of stay shall be considered by the immigration office in accordance with actual conditions.

  1. Period of staying limit in Hong Kong no less than 7-month in the passport.
  2. A copy of employment contract.
  3. A letter from the employer is required. The letter should give the reason for applying a multi-entries visa and sign by the employer with the same signature as the employment contract.
  4. A copy of Hong Kong Identity Card of the contract signed employer is required.

(IV) Non-Hong Kong Identity Card holders cannot apply for multi-entries visa.

B. Visa for relatives-visiting in China

For applying the relatives-visiting visa in mainland China, requirements are as follows:

  1. Senior (60 years old or above) and child can apply for a relatives-visiting visa which valid no more than 180-day. The duration of stay shall be considered by the immigration office in accordance with actual conditions.
  2. Other applicants can apply for a relatives-visiting visa which valid no more than 60-day. The duration of stay shall be considered by the immigration office in accordance with actual conditions.
  3. Applicants are required to provide his or her Chinese name, Chinese name of his or her relatives in mainland China, their relationship, Chinese address and contact number(s) of his or her relatives in mainland China.
