Gas scarcity not to Shenzhen
For days, Medias have reported that several cities like Chongqing, Wuhan and Changsha are in acute shortage of natural gas and some even present gas scarcity, which have brought great impact to the local people’s life and economy. According to Shenzhen Gas Corporation, Shenzhen’s natural gas supply is stable and reliable due to its sufficient source of supply and the gas could meet the demands of the residents.
Shenzhen now has over 900 thousand of natural gas users. Shenzhen’s natural gas mainly depends on export, receiving imported natural gas from Australia at Chentoujiao Receiving Station in Dapeng Town. Shenzhen Gas Corporation has a 25 year-gas-supply contract which could guarantee stable gas supply without being impacted by the bad temperature in the North. As the gas supplier of Shenzhen, Guangdong Liquefied Gas Corporation also processes the natural gas from Qatar, adding the completion of the West-East natural gas transmission project in 2011, Shenzhen’s gas supplied could be fully guaranteed. Therefore, the municipal Gas Corporation said there would not be gas scarcity in Shenzhen.
On the market of bottled gas, although the transportation of the North liquefied petroleum gas (LPC) to South is blocked by the blizzard in the North, which has caused tension supply to some regions, Shenzhen’s LPC currently mainly come from Shanghai with stable source and large storage, which could meet the huge demands during the peak season in the future.
