Huawei’s Terminals Revenue Hoping to Increase by 25% to $5 Billion
On November 18th, the 2009 Mobile Communications Conference was officially opened in Hong Kong. Tao Jingwen, the senior vice president of Huawei and president of Huawei Terminal firm, said that, the company would expect its revenue of the mobile terminals to increase by 25% to 5 billion US dollars, comparing to the actual proceeds of sales of 4 billion US dollars in last year.
Tao Jingwen indicated that 7o% of Huawei’s terminal products were exported, among which mobile phones were exported to 130 countries. He said, “I am confident that we will maintain equal growth next year.”
Statistics showed that Huawei’s net profit in 2008 grew by 20% over the same period of the past year, and its sales revenue was expected to exceed 3 billion US dollars comparing to the contract sales revenue of 23.3 billion US dollars last year. In the global economic crisis, Huawei performed much better than most of the Western competitors.
U.S. market research firm Dell’Oro revealed last week that Huawei had surpassed Nokia and Siemens to be the world’s second largest telecom equipment manufacturer this year. Only second to Ericsson which accounts for about one-third market share, Huawei has taken 20 percent of the market share.
