Huawei, ZTE and BYD Took Top Three Patent Applications
Shenzhen City has been showing strong strength and innovative ability in the IT field. Yesterday, the journalist learned from the “11th IT Field Patents Situation Conference,” that the top three of national patent applications in the IT field were taken by Shenzhen enterprises Huawei, ZTE and BYD. Lou Qinjian, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Xu Qin, Member of The Shenzhen Standing Committee, Executive Vice Mayor, attended the conference.
Held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, “IT Field Patents Situation Conference” is an important measure to promote the progress of profession intellectual property rights. Since it follows closely and publishes the latest development trend of IPR in IT field, the Conference has become one of the major activities that have best brand effect in the industry.
The conference analyzed and delivered the general trend of the IT field patents in 2009, as well as the situation of key industries. According to statistics, till September 30th, 2009, the patent applications in the IT field, which have been opened by State Intellectual Property Office, amounted to more than 980,000 pieces. Increased by 20%, it rose over 180,000 compared to the same period in 2008. And the industrial innovation has kept a high degree of activity. In the survey of mainland enterprises patent applications, Huawei whose total applications reaching 23,585 pieces, continuously leads in domestic patent applications, followed by ZTE with 14747 pieces, and BYD came third.
In addition, viewing IT patent applications in every province, Guangdong Province was far ahead of others, whose patent applications reached 116,347 pieces. It also was the only province had more than 100,000 pieces of IT patent applications, almost twice as many as those of Beijing which ranked second with 68,356 pieces.
In his speech, Lou pointed out that the environment of the Intellectual Property had been further improved in 2009, but some issues had not been fundamentally resolved yet, such as inadequate intra-industry innovation accumulation, lagged structural adjustment, and deficient capability and experience of response to intellectual property disputes. He stressed the need to strengthen IT enterprises construction of self-directed innovation capability; to enhance the efforts of IPR strategically implementation; to reinforce research and exploration on IPR issues and practice.
Xu Qin said that Shenzhen would continue to strengthen patent work, impel enterprise to develop independent innovation, and promote itself to achieve even greater progress in the IT field.
