Oil smuggling seized in Shenzhen
Learning from Shenzhen Border Defense Branch, after receiving the report, the Branch intercepted and captured a wood finishing boat at the marine area of Sanmen Island and seized suspected smuggling “red oil” of nearly one hundred tons.
At about 14 o’clock on November 22, the Branch received report that someone would smuggle “red oil” from Hong Kong to Huizhou. At about 15 o’clock, Shenzhen Border Defense Branch sent out two boats heading towards Sanmen Island where the suspected smuggling boats must pass through and carried out close inspection to the suspected boats passing by. At about 16 o’clock, a red wood boat drove towards Dapeng Bay and turn around when it saw the frontier officers inspecting. When controlled the boat, the officers found a batch of “red oil” instead of fishing tools.
It’s reported that “red oil” is tax-free diesel oil added with red staining materials, which is used in factories and ships within the area of Hong Kong. Its price is lower than the common diesel in Hong Kong and its quality is only a little lower than the inland standard. According to introduction of Shenzhen Border Defense, the oil price on inland is rising and the margin is continuously expanding, therefore, some smugglers take risks to smuggle the “red oil” from Hong Kong to inland, lured by the huge profits.
Currently, the case has been handed over to relevant department for further treatment.
