Shenzhen Metro Construction caused house cracks, owners refused to move back

On the night of October 28, a dangerous situation happened on the bored tunnel construction site at Xinxiu Station of Shenzhen Metro No.2 Line. The construction unit and the sub-district office emergently evacuated 49 families of Luofangyuan, a community beside the construction site, arranging them temporarily at Sanjiu Grand Hotel nearby and granting 100 Yuan living and traffic allowance per person per day.

After the dangerous situation being controlled on October 29, the Municipal Construction Bureau, as scheduled, organized experts to carry out evaluation for the security condition of No.1 Building of Luofangyuan Community and at the same time the representatives of the residents, Metro Corporation and construction unit jointly entrusted Shenzhen Quality Testing Center of Construction Project to make assessment for the building, according to the introduction of relevant department of Luohu District. The conclusion is “the main structure of the building is safe and could be used”, according to which relevant department persuaded the residents to move back to their houses and decided to grant 12 thousand Yuan compensations for each family. However, the residents refused to move back on the grounds that the conclusion of the experts and professional inspection unit is not credible.

At about 10 o’clock last night, conflicts happened between the house owners and the construction unit and some owners were lightly hurt. According to the report, the medical fee of the owners would be paid by the construction unit.

In the afternoon, the Luohu Inquiry Bureau will visit the representatives of owners and relevant persons of the construction unit to further mediate this matter.
