Shenzhen RFID Standard Alliance established

Organized by Shenzhen Institute of Standards and Technology, Shenzhen RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Standard Alliance jointly formed by 14 major production and research organizations for RFID was formally established on November 27, which will race to control the commanding height of the standards in the form of the “alliance”.

It’s said that, in order to promote the standardization of the technology innovation fruits and raise the competitive power of the corporations and the industry, Shenzhen has actively promoted the establishment of the six industry alliances and part of the standards alliances have obtained significant progress.

RFID, shorted for Radio Frequency Identification, is a type of non-contact automatic identification technology that automatically identifies objects and obtains relevant data through radio frequency signal without manual work. In recent years, the RFID technology has developed fast and the leading RFID corporations in China mostly gather in Shenzhen. In the annual appraisal of China RFID industry in 2007 and 2008, Shenzhen came out among the best and the corporation number also account half of the number that in China, which means Shenzhen has become the top recipient of the domestic RFID industry.

The establishment of Shenzhen RFID Standards Alliance indicates that Shenzhen’s RFID industry has stepped into a new developing phase. After established, the Alliance will lead the corporations to actively participate in or dominate the formulation of international standards, national standards and industrial standards, mastering the dominating right in the formulation of international and national standards.
