7 flu kids in Shenzhen receive relief funds

The three –year-old child, named Xiutian is unfortunately infected with H1N1 flu and now is under medical treatment in Shenzhen hospital. On the afternoon of December 14, father of Xiutain received 15,000 Yuan relief funds from Shenzhen Charity Federation. It’s said that this is the first batch of relief funds of the “Emergent Relief Plan for H1N1 Flu Children” of Shenzhen Relief Fund for Serious Sick Children granted. By far, seven serious H1N1 flu children have received the relief funds.

As of now, Shenzhen Relief Fund for Serious Sick Children has raised 7.77 million Yuan from various sections of society. On December 12, Shenzhen started up the “Emergent Relief Plan for Serious H1N1 Flu Children” and soon received several enquiry and application calls. Seven serious H1N1 flu children in Shenzhen now has been approved.

Half a month ago, Ms. Hu’s son and daughter were both infected with the flu. Now her daughter has recovered, but her son is still in coma and the condition is not optimistic. Ms. Hu said 90,000 Yuan medical expense has been spend since the children were sick, however, they have only several thousand savings, and most are borrowed from their relatives. “We didn’t expect we can receive 10,000 relief funds only one week after we filed the application,” Ms.Hu said excitedly, “thank in deed the kind-hearted people in society for helping us make through the tough period.”

According to the introduction of Shenzhen Charity Federation, the seven applicants as the first batch will receive relief funds totaling 57, 000 Yuan. Six of the seven children who are between 2 to nine have not Shenzhen household registration. Till now, the “Emergent Relief Plan for Serious H1N1 Flu Children” is on going and qualified citizens could apply to Shenzhen Charity Federation.
