Huawei supports GlobeNet to deploy OTN in the United States
Huawei recently announced that it has joined hands with GlobeNet, a leading wholesale operator of transport in America, to deploy Optical Transport Network (“OTN”) that connects POP station in New York and the submarine cable landing station in the south of New Jersey, United States, realizing reliable seamless transmission of submarine cable landing stations from New York to Brazil, Venezuela, Bermuda island, Florida State and even farther places.
This network adopts Huawei’s OSN 6800 OTN platform which possesses favorable expansibility and supports 10Gb/s, 40Gb/s and even 100Gb/s wavelength in the future, so as to meet the demand of the existing and the future high-end and high-bandwidth service on all-round base. Furthermore, a set of network management could be adopted to centrally administrate the existing ADM equipments and the OTN equipments, effectively reducing the maintenance cost and meeting the management requirement of the extra-bandwidth network in the future.
Head of the Project and Operation Department of GlobeNet, Luiz Alonso said, “the reason that we choose Huawei as a partner is Huawei understand fully the demand of our network and could provide special supporting resources.”
Huawei’s North American Executive Vice President, Liu Jingqing said, “this project will expand GlobeNet’s network in the east of the United States and also confirms Huawei’s promise, same as ever, to provide global leading transmission network and support the transformation of GlobeNet ALL IP network.”
As a leading manufacture in the field of optical transport, Huawei’s 1.3 million sets of transport network products and solutions have been applied in over 100 countries and district. According to the report of OVUM-RHK, a industry consulting company, Huawei has ranked first in the global WDM/OTN field and will lead the development of the world’s transmission network technology and commercialization.
