Tencent becomes official media partner of the Universiade
Following the successful joining hands with Beijing Olympic and Shanghai Expo, Tencent again cooperates with international events, the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade. On the morning of January 15, Tencent signed final agreement with the Executive Bureau of Shenzhen Universiade, becoming the 9th official media partner of the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade.
Vice Chairman of the Executive Board and Director of the Executive Bureau of Shenzhen Universiade, Liang Daoxing, Director of Shenzhen Internet Management Office, Li Ruiqi, full-time Vice Director of the Executive Bureau of the Universiade, Ke Gangming, Consulter to the Executive Bureau of the Universiade, Li Nansheng, Chairman & CEO of Tencent, Ma Huateng and General Manager of the media expanding department, Xie Yuefeng took part in the signing ceremony.
Liang Daoxing said official media partner is a fresh force for the propagandizing work of the Universiade and also an important carrier of Shenzhen to create city brand and enhance the city’s popularity, upholding the concept of “holding the event, holding the city, new Universiade, new Shenzhen”. In the two years’ “Shenzhen Time”, the Executive Bureau of Shenzhen Universiade will implement the whole transmission strategy of the Universiade on an all-round based to create city brand and enhance city popularity as well as to construct an all-round news propagandizing pattern for the Universiade.
“Tencent will conclude the experience of the events in the past and provide construction and maintenance services for the thematic website providing theme activities for the upcoming 2011 Universiade,” Ma Huateng said when interviewed.
The strategic cooperation between the Organizing Committee and the Executive Bureau of the 26th Shenzhen Summer Universiade and Tencent indicate that Shenzhen’s city marketing has stepped into a brand new step. Through the huge influence of the internet, Shenzhen will realize the goal of creating an excellent city image.
