In order to popularize the Universiade knowledge and propagandize the Universiade culture among the citizens, the 2011 Universiade, as required by the Application Report of the Universiade and the Executive Board of the Universiade, holds the Universiade Culture Festival around January 17 every year before it’s held. On the base of the successful holding of the previous two, the third Universiade Culture Festival had been opened on December 15, 2009 and came into a successful conclusion yesterday.

Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Liu Yupu sent out the decree of general mobilization to the whole city when the Universiade came into “Shenzhen Time” on an all-round base, calling for welcoming the Universiade, holding the Universiade and establishing a civilized, harmonious and international city. Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen also called on the citizens to participate, contribute and share the Universiade.

Before this, Shenzhen held two Universiade Culture Festivals respectively in 2008 and 2009, which have obtained expected results with the support and participation of the member units of the Executive Board of the Universiade. This Festival will continue to obey the principles of the previous two Festivals to arrange the whole city’s resources, especially the resources of the member units of the Executive Board of the Universiade to participate in each activity of the Universiade Culture Festival.
