Huawei successfully deploys LTE network for Cox in U.S
Huawei, a leading provider of next-generation telecommunications network solutions for the operators around the world, announced it has successfully completed voice calling and high definition video streaming and other typical LTE services over the wireless network for Cox Communications, subsidiary of Cox Corporation, the third largest cable provider in the United States. This Long Term Evolution (LTE) trial network adopt al-IP framework that has high speed, low latency, high spectrum efficiency and other characteristics, which could greatly enhance the users’ experience of the mobile bandwidth.
Cox Communications, a CDMA operator in the United States, chose Huawei’s SingleRAN solution and the industry leading 3900 series base station products to deploy the CDMA network facing the LTE network in 2009. Huawei’s SingleRAN solution could merge different mobile network, which could enable the operators to provide 2G, 3G and LTE network service at the same time with only one network.
“Through the cooperation with Huawei, we have made a milestone stride in the trial,” said tephen Bye, Vice President of the wireless service of Cox. “Huawei’s dedication and support, deep understanding of our need and delivery ability could enable us to realize challenging projects and plans and are the main factors of our selection of Huawei as our partner. The successful trial has encouraged us to move gradually to LTE. ”
The LTE trial network deployed by Huawei adopts Cox’s Advanced Wireless Service (AWS) and 700 MHz spectrum that it acquired from Federal Communication Commission Auction in 2006 and 2008.
“As a industry leading provider of LTE technology, Huawei has deployed over 42 LTE networks globally,” said Wan Biao, President of Wireless Product Line, Huawei, “the deployment of LTE trials with Cox Communications is another milestone that we have made since we deploy LTE trials in the North America in 2008, which demonstrating out unwavering commitment to providing advanced mobile telecommunication technology for the operators in this area.”
2009 is a crucial year for the gradual maturity of LTE industry. As a global leader of the LTE industry, Huawei joins hands with industrial chain partners including operators, end suppliers and chip suppliers continue to promote LTE’s development on technology, commercialization, patent and standard, IOT test and so on. By now, Huawei has deployed over 42 LTE commercial networks and test networks with global operators, contributed over 3300 LTE/SAE standard proposals and shared the leading achievements acquired on LTE patent with the industry.
In 2009, Huawei made breakthrough in North America by deploying the first HSPA+ network for the two operators Telus and Bell in Canada. Besides providing end-to-end CDMA solutions for Cox Communications in the United States, Huawei also deployed CDMA network for Leap, United States and provide WiMAX solutions for Clearwire.
