Huawei to provide GSM-R system for DB Systel

Huawei, a leading provider of next generation telecommunication solution for the operators around the world, and DB Systel, subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, a leading operator of German railway, jointly announced that DB Systel, has purchased IP core-based GSM-R system from Huawei, which will be used in the test laboratory of DB Systel.

DB Systel plans to conduct products and interoperability testing to examine the interaction between Huawei’s system architecture and its existing GSM-R network. This acquisition enable the laboratory of DB Systel for the first time connect with Huawei’s GSM-R equipment.

“Our testing laboratory’s core business is to fully utilize new communication system designed by different manufacturers for the railway, and at the same time to provide market overview,” said Wolfgang Klein, Head of the system engineering and network operation of DB Systel.

 DB Systel, one of the leading providers of telecommunication technology services in Germany.

It’s said that Huawei’s GSM-R system has been extensively deployed in China. Huawei recently announced that it has exclusively won the railway project contract of UGL, the largest railway engineering corporation in Australia.
