BYD’s Passenger Car Base in Changsha to be launched in October

In October this year, BYD Auto in Changsha will release new cars and realize annual producing capacity of 30,000 units, according to Changsha Municipal Development and Reform Commission.

On the base of overall acquisition of Midea’s passenger cars in August 2009, BYD will invest 3 billion Yuan to build a new energy auto production base in Changsha that covers a floor area of 4 square kilometers, becoming a new energy automobile production corporation integrating research, development, production and sale.

Construction of the first phase project with a total area of 2500 mu has been started on an all round base. The painting workshop, the welding workshop and No.8 workshop etc. have been completed and new cars are expected to be released in October. It’s anticipated that production capacity of 30,000 vehicles will be realized this year. In addition, the passenger car project this year plans to produce 1000 diesel-powered cars including 700 buses and 300 inter-city buses, as well as 300 power driven buses, which will be extensively used in the public transportation and long distance passenger transportation industry.
