BYD and Daimler-Benz Jointly “Play” Electric Cars
In recent days, BYD and Benz signed a Memorandum of Understanding on electric cars and the relevant parts and components. Not long ago, the representative of Benz Dieter Zetsche just visited BYD’s factory in Shenzhen, to put it on agenda the cooperative research and development of electric cars.
Under the agreement, Daimler-Benz is mainly going to provide the vehicle technology in this cooperation, while BYD will provide battery technology. The former is the inventor of automobile, which is world-famous for its vehicle manufacturing technology; the latter, as the global leader in electric cars, has its great advantages in battery and drive technology. It’s unprecedented in the history that both of the companies will use their best technologies to jointly develop electric cars.
According to the expert in the car industry, BYD isn’t short of capital, technology, channels, management experience, etc., but Daimler-Benz, which was too conservative in the new energy, seems to be even more urgent in this cooperation.
In this regard, the famous car critic Zhong Shi believed that it is the first time that the domestic automobile enterprises have won the favor of the multinational auto giants by their own technology to have further cooperation. The domestic automobile enterprises were only able to exchange technology with market in the previous time. Thus, it is commendable of BYD to first break through such difficult situation.
