Dongjiang Column Northward Retreating Memorial Pavilion, located in Shayuyong beach, Kuichong Town, is 5 kilometers away from Dapeng Town. After the War  against Japan was over, the main force of Dongjiang Column would retreat northward to Yantai under the term of the Chongqing Negotiations signed by the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. On June 30th, 1946, under the command of Northward Retreating Forces Military and Political Commission led by Zeng Sheng, 2583 northward retreating personnel boarded 3 landing ships of US Army and marched to Yantai. During the War of Liberation, they expanded into two columns, fought many battles such as Eastern Honan campaign, and contributed much to the liberation of Chinese people. To commemorate this historic event, the former Bao’an County People Government built the pavilion at original Shayuyong, which was published as Municipal Patriotic Education Base later.

With a bathing beach on the left, the pavilion backs on to the mountains and faces the sea. The gentle breeze is blowing. This is such a lovely place to enjoy the cool in summer that you can have a wonderful trip in Shayuyong.
