Former Residence of Zeng Sheng is a two-tier wood Hakka domestic building, where Zeng Sheng was born in Dec. 1910.

In 1934, he joined China Youth League, a peripheral organization of the Communist Party of China, and began to engage in revolutionary cause. In Oct. 1936, he joined the CPC. In Oct. 1938, he set up Huibao Working Committee of the CPC in Pingshan and acted as the secretary. In December of the same year, he established Anti-Japanese Guerrilla corps of Huibao People and served as the commander in chief. In Dec. 1943, he served as the commander of Dongjiang Column, the Anti-Japanese Guerrillas of the Guangdong People. On Aug. 15, 1945, as the representative of South China Anti-Japanese Column designated by Commander Zhu De, he accepted the surrender of Japanese Army in Guangdong. In June 1946, he led the main force of Dongjiang Column to retreat northward to Shandong under the term of the Chongqing Negotiations signed by the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. During the period from the Founding of PRC to the Cultural Revolution, he was assigned to assistant commander of the Guangdong Military Area & the commander and commissar of the Zhujiang Branch Military Area, secretary of Zhujiang Prefectural Party Committee, first deputy chief of staff of South China Military Area, the first deputy commander of the Navy’s South Sea Fleet, vice governor of Guangdong & Guangzhou Mayor and so on. In 1955, he was authorized the rank of major general. In 1982, he was elected into the committee of Advisory Committee of CPC. On Nov. 20th, 1995, he passed away in Guangzhou.

Zeng Sheng, having made great contribution to the liberation, construction and development of Guangdong Province, as well as the contribution of people’s army, is the pride of Shenzhen people. In June 2001, the Former Residence of Zeng Sheng was declared as the important protection unit of cultural relic of the district by the People’s Government of Longgang District, Shenzhen, where now displays the bed he was born on and daily articles he had used.
