Shenzhen to be the largest gathering place for LED

Shenzhen’s LED industry has soared in the gloomy market in 2009, with industrial output value exceeding 20 billion Yuan, up by 30% over the same period of last year.

Currently, LED industry has become a commanding point of the emerging industry that globally completed and pursued. As the earliest city that enters into the LED industry, Shenzhen, through nearly ten years’ cultivation and development, has owned over 900 corporations engaging in the research, production and application of the LED lighting technologies, becoming the largest gathering place for LED in China. Shenzhen’s LED industry has formed a complete industrial chain from the backing material and epitaxial slice at the upper stream, the chips at the middle stream to the packaging, application and supporting material, and processing and testing equipments at downstream. In 2009, Shenzhen Municipal Government listed the LED industry as one of the emerging industries that will be developed as priority, and at the same time, debut three documents including the Shenzhen LED industry plan and supporting policies, deciding to invest over 200 million Yuan within three years for strongly promoting the development of the LED industry.
