The Site of Dongjiang Column Military and Governmental Cadres Academy lies in the Dongshang Temple, which stands on the Longtou Hill, outside the East Gate of Pengcheng, Dapeng Town, Longgang District. Dongshang Temple, built in Hongwu 27th of Ming Dynasty (AD 1394), has a history of more than 600 years. The original building comprised four parts: in the front it was Sanbao Hall, where honored Budda; in the rear of Sanbao Hall it is Kun Iam Tong, on the left it is God Hall, and on the right it is Wenchang Gallery.

In July 1944, in order to enhance troops’ combat effectiveness and promote cadres’ literacy, Dongjiang Column Military founded Anti-Japanese Military and Governmental Cadres Academy according to the instructions from the Central Committee of the Party. The academy had trained two groups of students successively.
