The first art museum that focuses on fashionable design – the OCT Art & Design Gallery, was officially opened on Sep. 1st, 2008 in OCT. It is adjacent to He Xiangning Art Museum, Shenzhen OCT Intercontinental Hotel, as well as the three cultural tourism scenic spots – Splendid China, the China Folk Culture Village, and Window of the World.

The OCT Art & Design Gallery mainly focuses on and promotes fashionable design, and it covers many design fields such as graphic design, spatial design, product design, costume design, digital, images, animation and so on. It also will pay attention to Contemporary Art and multi-art activity, actively explore and reflect the relationship between design and Contemporary Art.

Its main building was transformed from old warehouse with a glass curtain wall outside which is made of overlapping hexagonal steel structure. It is modern multifunctional art exhibition hall built under the standards of international museum of art. It covers a construction area of 3,000 square meters, including a temperature controlled area of 2,000 square meters, and a temperature controlled art gallery.

The OCT Art & Design Gallery is funded by Oversea Chinese Town Group, which is a large central enterprise managed by State Property Management Commission of the State Council. It’s also the only one that brings culture industry into its core business after approval of SASAC. Together with the national art museum He Xiangning Art Museum and OCT Contemporary Art Center, it forms an art triangle of OCT.
