ZTE achieved 2.5b net profits in 2009

President of ZTE Corporation, Yin Yimin said on the ZTE’s Industry, University and Research Cooperation Forum on 26th that ZTE’s position in the global communication industry has been largely advanced depending on the research, development and innovation. The company has achieved net profit growth of 50 percent in 2009.

Yin said, ZTE inputted 6 billion Yuan for research and development in 2009, which accounted for 10% of the total sale revenue. As scientific innovation enhances the company’s global competitive power, ZTE has conducted business cooperation with major communication operators in the world and the occupancy of its product has maintained continuous growth in the European, American and other important markets.

Preliminary calculated, ZTE achieved net profit of 2.5 billion Yuan last year, a growth of 50 percent over previous year, according to the introduction of Yin. The company this year will increase input for research and development for supporting the company’s long term development.

The industry’s largest Cooperation Organization of Industry, University and Research initiated by ZTE, consisting of 19 universities, such as Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Post and Telecommunication etc., China Academy of Telecommunication Research of MIIT and the institutes of the three largest operators of China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, will fully utilize the scientific research resources in different places to accelerate the technological innovation and realize the fast transferring of scientific research fruits to the market for upgrading the global competitive power of China’s communication industry.

ZTE currently has over 70 thousand employees, 33.5% of which are research and development personnel.
