BYD denies its acquisition of Maybach
Senior Executive of BYD Corporation made a denial yesterday on the rumor that BYD will purchase the high-end brand Maybach owned by Daimler.

“It’s just a guess, there’s no such thing.” Vice Manager General of BYD Auto said. The cooperation between BYD and Daimler focuses on the field of electro-vehicles. The two parties are now in negotiation and the formal agreement will be soon signed. As to the acquisition of Daimler’s luxurious brand Maybach, BYD does not have this consideration.
However, BYD is not without any interest on Maybach. Insider of BYD said that, despite the denial of the acquisition, BYD indeed used to discuss about this. But due to excessive luxury of the Maybach brand and limitation of the customers, BYD decides to ground the acquisition temporarily.
Some material made open to the public shows, since being listed on the stock market in 2002 till now, the Maybach brand has sold out 800 vehicles while it competitors, Bently and Rolls-Royce, are continuously rewriting their sale records, leaving Maybach far behind.
In the last two years, relevant information about Daimler will close Maybach come out from time to time. President of Daimler –Mercedes, Cai Che again not long before that Daimler in the following two years will consider continuing the investment for the Maybach under deficit or directly closing it.
