Huawei Research Center in Ottawa to be enlarged with 250 people and $50 million investment
On April 20, 2010, Tuesday, Huawei’s Research Center in Ottawa, Canada is announced to be started for use, which is the 9th research and development center of Huawei in North American region and also the 17th in the world, according to the report foreign media.
President of Huawei, Canada, Carl Liu said the Research and Development Center currently has 70 people and the number of research and development engineers in the future two years will be increased to 250, that is, another 180 people will be newly recruited. He also released that Huawei is planning to invest 50 million dollars for this Research and Development Center.
Carl Liu said the local Research and Development Center will help strengthen the contact and cooperation between Huawei and Canadian users.
The Center is currently developing the Application-specific Integrated Computer (ASIC) and other subjects are concerning to the speeding up and optimization of the mobile network.
Under the outsourcing trend, more and more Western posts flow to China. As to Huawei’s oppositely entering into Ottawa, local business associates comment that Ottawa is a big springboard for entering into the North American market. Huawei not only can recruit technical persons, but also can get acquainted of the customers’ demands under the different climate environment in North America.
