Shenzhen Gangland Chief was Sentenced due to Monopolizing Beer Market

Relying on “Kwan Kee” beer wholesale operations shops, a group of 15 people monopolized 60% markets of beer supplies in the Yan Zhou Village, Bao’an District, Shenzhen, which made a bad influence on local people’s production and life and obstruct the government’s public management functions. Recently, the Bao’an District People’s Court made the First Instance verdict on the case. The head of the group Chen Rongkun was accused of several crimes and executed an imprisonment of 16 years.

Through the monopoly of beer market in Yan Chuan Village, the group has amassed a large number of economic interests. In the meantime, Chen Rongkun has planned or prompted many members to force dealing and engage in beating, smashing and looting in Yan Chuan Village, so as to maintain its monopoly status and get illegal economic interests.

The Research Center of Shenzhen Municipal Court representatives claimed that the criminal activities of the group have seriously impacted the normal social and economic order as well as local people’s production and life, which cause a substantial decline in people’s sense of security, while the government public management functions has been hampered.

On Mar. 30th, Bao’an District Court made the First Instance verdict on the case. Chen Rongkun, conducted several crimes including syndicate, robbery, extortion, causing trouble, and the crime of forced transactions and so on, was executed an imprisonment of 16 years and fined 8,000 yuan. Some culprits were sentenced to an imprisonment of more than 16 years or so, while others were sentenced to prison.
