Data of China’s Cultural Industry Development Interpreted on ICIF
On the 6th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF) being held in Shenzhen, the National Bureau of Statistics issued the “real situation” of China’s cultural industry: in 2009, the value of cultural industry in China increased to be about 840 billion yuan, which was 10% more than that 2008, continuing to maintain a rapid development trend.
In this ICIF, a set of statistics were announced by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Culture, SARFT, GAPP, and the National Bureau of Statistics in news conference of Shenzhen cultural industry development: according to the second national economic census in 2008, China’s cultural industry added a value of 763 billion yuan, accounting for 2.43% of GDP over the same period; the annual corporate revenue of cultural industry units reached 2.7244 trillion yuan, of which the main business income accounted for 98. 4%; the cultural industry employed a total of 11.82 million people, accounting for 1.53% of the national employees, and accounting for 3.91% urban employees.
What’s more delighting is that China is accelerating the development of new cultural industries. The new industries such as entertainment and culture services, tourism and culture services, advertising services, convention and exhibition services, and Internet cafes are developing rapidly. Compared to that in 2004, the number of corporate units of China’s external cultural industries increased 89%; the number of employees increased 61%, 103% in asset growth, 150% in the main revenue growth, and 248% in added value growth.
On this ICIF, “China’s Top 30 cultural enterprises in 2008-2009” were also issued. According to the company’s main income, pretax profit, net assets and national award received in 2008-2009, China Publishing Group Corporation, China Film Group Corporation, Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Co., Ltd. and other 27 corporations were elected on the top list.
