Splendid China — A Day Travelling of China

The most famous and earliest entertainment parks in Shenzhen are the theme parks Splendid China and Fork Culture Village. These two parks bring Chinese traditional scenery and culture and customs together, which offer visitors a chance to view China in one time.

“One step gets into history and one day travels through China” is the slogan of Splendid China, which is not an exaggeration. There are 82 attractions in full accordance with China’s territory distribution in the park, mostly copied in the proportion of 1:15, vividly representing China’s historical culture and folk customs. There is also a cultural street retaining the characteristics of traditional Chinese commercial neighborhood. Visitors can eat Sichuan, Guangdong, Beijing, Suzhou and other places’ snacks, as well as view the handicrafts show. The park looks like a Chinese cultural heritage museum, which is more suitable for bringing children to receive culture education.

Folk Culture Village, separated with Splendid China by a wall, consists of 24 virtual villages of 21 Chinese ethnic minorities. In the villages, visitors can enjoy all residential areas and customs: Li nation’s boat house and Wa nation’s post-column grass floor are side by side, Bai nation’s delicately-carved “three-room with a screen wall” and the Han nation’s “quadrangle”. A variety of constructions shape hidden in the Hainan coconut and towering Xishuangbanna Banyan. Visitors can ride, or walk, or roam by boat, with the peacocks and the lazy elephant accompanying on the way.

Relative to the static display of national building, visitors can also enjoy and participate in the national song and dance performances and ethnic crafts; enjoy ethnic flavor food; watch a demonstration of national art, professional singing and dancing performance, folk gallery, fork favorite programs and other civil scenes. The village organizes different ethnic activities in the festival time every year such as New Year’s Day, Spring Festival Series, Spring Outing in March, Labour’s Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Summer Holiday, Autumn Holiday, National Day and the interacting activities with visitors and so on. For both adult and children, these lively performances and events are more interesting than the miniature landscape.

In addition, starting from 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm, there are large-scale performances showed at different Art Plazas in the park including “Armored Dynasty”, “Oriental Fashion” and “Chinese Dragon & Phoenix Dance”, which reflects China’s history and culture. Three performances have different emphases and themes, which with the stage razzmatazz is absolutely a gorgeous literary feast.

Beach Racetrack, 14:00-16: 10. There is a large-scaled original historical Virtual drama “Armored Dynasty” performed by the nation’s top stunt cavalry formed by 300 equestrian stunt  people who show a war legendary that 40 000 soldiers defeat 400 000 enemies. It recalls the successful life of Nurhachi who was the first King of Qing Dynasty. Ticket is free.

Center Theatre, 17:00-18: 00. The large-scared dance performance with national dance costumes called “Oriental Fashion”, which is performed by thousands of enchanting oriental beauty, with high quality clothing, high-tech stage art means, and dazzling lighting. It displays China’s colorful costumes made by various ethnic groups. Tickets: General: 15 Yuan / person; VIP seats: 50 Yuan / person.

Phoenix Plaza, 19:30-20: 30. The large-scaled epic performance known as “whoever comes to Shenzhen must see the performance” is “Chinese Dragon & Phoenix Dance”, which presents China’s origin, development and brilliance in five thousand years. It adopts all means of modern stage such as sound, light, electricity and water to have dance, acrobatics, magic and other artistic means showed together, which is a unique experience of Chinese culture.
