Trample Accident Occurred in Shenzhen MTR
On 25th, some people used escalator to carry cargoes at A Exit in Huaqiang North Road Metro Station. However, the cargoes fell down and many people on the escalator were injured by the falling cargoes. There were more than 10 people being trampled, among whom an old man carrying a girl baby rolled down the escalator.
Many shop assistants told that the whole thing happened only in one minute, and most injured people were sent to hospital.
The MTR Corporation revealed the investigation report: the escalator at A Exit worked normally and well. This accident happened as a result from customers’ improper use of escalator. The incident took place, mainly due to the passengers’ violation of the provisions and improper use of the escalator. Two men (not metro passengers) used small carts to transport overweighed goods from the Huaqiang South to the Huaqiang North, which violated the regulation that subway station escalator is forbidden to be used for transporting goods”. They didn’t carry cargoes carefully that cargoes fell down towards other passengers and caused this trample accident. The current statistics showed that there were 15 people injured, most of whom were slightly injured. Now the two troublemakers have been under the control of police officers.
