Classic Chinese ballet production to be staged at Shenzhen Poly Theatre

A ballet reproduced from the classic Chinese erhu production of the “Moon Reflected in the Second Best Spring” will be staged at the Shenzhen Poly Theater in Nanshan District from July 4 to 5.

    The ballet “Moon Reflected in the Second Best Spring,” composed by a gifted street musician Hua Yanjun (also called A Bing), is considered one of the foremost and treasured ballet productions in China. It is also acclaimed as a milestone for Chinese ballet, bringing a breath of fresh air to the long-dormant creation of national ballet.

    This play, adapted from the erhu solo “Moon Reflected in the Second Best Spring” by Hua, is about a tragic love story.

    Since the first performance, it has received tremendous and continuous applause from audiences and experts and was considered a major breakthrough for indigenous ballet.
