Niu Niu to play Chopin masterpieces at the Shenzhen Concert Hall
Niu Niu, a 13-year-old pianist prodigy, is to play several Chopin masterpieces at the Shenzhen Concert Hall on July 10.
Born in Xiamen, Niu Niu — the nickname of Zhang Shengliang — started to play the piano at the age of 3 under the guidance of his father, a music teacher.
He was enrolled by the primary school affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music at the age of 8, becoming the youngest student in the school’s 83-year history.
Niu Niu held a solo concert at the Wigmore Concert Hall in Britain in August 2008 and was invited to play Shostakovich’s “Piano Concerto in C Minor” at the 2007 Pearl Awards.
